Postponed

How many uneaten shepherd’s pies
can we risk in this life? How much
food waste is safety worth? Who
knows why we celebrate the way we do?
Who knows why we are gathered today?
Who knows why we did not gather today?
Whose Saint’s Day is next? Whose birthday
is next? Whose feast fits the mood?
Who can cite one fact that seems true?
Who wrote in a dying vernacular
at a critical moment? How can we build
tradition without God? How can we build
God without gods? How many people
can fit in our house? Who has chairs
we can borrow? What do we do
if the party is canceled? What do we do
now? What is your first memory of
the poet Robert Burns? What is your first
memory of poetry? Do you count lullabies?
More or less if the lullaby was authored by
the poet Robert Burns? Do you have
an allegiance to your heritage? Do you have
a heritage? Do you like alcohol
based desserts? When can you give them
to a child? When did you stop napping?
When did you start again?
Do you know how to cook meat?
Do you know how to drive?
Do you want to drive meat to the party?
Do you want to drive me to the party?
What do we do now, do we live lightly
enough?
