MY NEIGHBOR THE MOON

 moon out in daylight
she is like an impossible round
                                            bone

all eye-white and egg-white
craters a visage of primordial
                                expression

at daylight's edge
        our rhythms coincide
and right now she is filling,
letting herself be seen by our bright
                                and burning star

isn't the milky way a long
cosmic cul-de-sac?
like the moon, light breaks
    through me until i become
                                            it

when night falls i'm barely afraid
when the west blushes in
    pinks and carnelian

i'm the rib pulled from
the side of this galactic force
                i, too am a celestial
                                        body

  1. Super cool. Etheral. I'll have to look up "carnelian" Biblical and sci fi at the same time! "i'm the rib pulled from
the side of this galactic force
    i, too am a celestial
    body"
