Brighton

I remember when I lost you, around 9 or 10

I would find you in the strangest places

Like in the eyes of my family dog

Lock myself in the closet and cry

When Chelsea’s little sister

Would look up at her

Adoring, admiring

We both new

Baby sisters were

The most precious cargo

Meant to be delivered slowly

And kept far from the flame

I remember when I found you

New named and hesitant

Darling, open gaze still intact

Slow to reintroduce you

To the acid in our DNA
