deep cleaning

i lean the shelf from the refrigerator up against the cabinet. returning my bleach cracked hands to the task. the sheet of glass bursts like rock candy. hundreds of particles scatter to the distant corners of the kitchen. covering the ground. the initial collection is simple. grand gestures with broom and dustpan make for satisfying prismatic molehills. but i encounter more cloistered shrapnel in crevices never cleaned. dust, sticky jam residue, a paper clip. each morning since. the sun creeps around the corner of the building into its matinal position. generously illuminating the sharp little shapes for me to find.
